Just a normal English night

With the rain pouring down,

Make sure you take your wellies

If you venture into town.

For the sky is dark and stormy

And the breeze is blowing sleet,

As the umbrellas are competing

For a space upon the street.

But there’s a pub on every corner

Providing refuge from the storm,

Good friends gather, toast and cheer

And keep each other warm.

Companionship binds each one

No other place they’d rather be,

Locking arms and singing songs

In human harmony.
